In between our trips to the sunny state of Queensland, Pa managed to squeeze in a trip across the Simpson Desert with Kath & Trevor Pietsch and Leeane & Kym Krause. The scenery was beautiful with some emerging wild flowers but the track itself was horrible. Lots of traffic over the track in the last few weeks left it very rough. We enjoyed the time out in the desert and the company was great.
Our first camp on the trip
We stopped in at the Farina ruins to have a look. There was a delicious smell wafting from the old Bake House so it needed investigating.
Along the Oodnadatta Track we stopped in to check out Coward Springs. Kath is testing the water temp in the spa.
Sunrise at our camping spot at Beresford Siding. We had a lovely water view over looking the large dam.
The Algebuckina Bridge over the Neales River
We stopped to watch the real cowboys at the Bronco Branding Championships at Oodnadatta
When we got to Dalhousie we were unable to have a camp fire so this was the next best thing says Leon!
But best of all was being able to go and have a soak in the Springs. We spent a couple of hours in the water the night before and then Kym went back for a second soak the next morning.
Lunch time on the track
Three lovely ladies in 3 states at Poeppel corner. Qld, NT, SA
On top of Big Red
The famous Birdsville Pub
Birdsville's water supply.
We stopped in at the Mungerannie Pub on the way down the Birdsville Track
In the Tom Brennan Punt at the Cooper Creek Crossing
Thanks to the Pietsch's & Krause' for a wonderful holiday.
